2nd TRANSNATIONAL MEETING IN LISBON

WELFARUMINANT - “Dissemination Of Animal Welfare Practices In Farmed Ruminants” project accepted within the scope of the Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships in Vocational Education (KA220-VET) Projects Activity of the Turkish National Agency for 2021 and coordinated by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Veterinary Faculty Animal Science Department’s Prof Dr. Ozkan ELMAZ held 2nd Transnational Project Meeting in Lisbon on 13-14 October 2022 with the participation of project partners from TURKEY, ITALY and PORTUGAL. The meeting was attended by Burdur MAKÜ faculty members, Burdur Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry officials who are among the project partners, and the head of Burdur Veterinary Doctors Chamber Veterinarian Kazım Üstüner, Prof. Dr. George Stilwell from University of Lisbon, Portugal and Prof. Dr. Silvana Mattiello and Prof. Dr. Monica Battini from the University of Milan, Italy under the presidency of Özkan Elmaz,
In line with the objectives determined within the scope of the project and the decisions taken at the meeting, A total of 20 people, including 5 students from MAKÜ 5 veterina rians from the Chamber of Veterinarians, 5 participants from the Burdur Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and 5 participants from Italy, will receive both theoretical and practical training on the "welfare assessment protocol" in Dairy and Beef cattle. within the scope of the "First Short-Term Learning / Teaching / Education event" to be held in Lisbon between 30 January 2023 and 3 February 2023 for 5 (five) days. Among the other decisions taken at the meeting in Lisbon, it was decided that a 5 (five) day “Second Short-Term Learning / Teaching / Training event” will be held in Burdur on “Flock Management and Certification” between 20 February 2023 and 24 February 2023 under the responsibility of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.
Project coordinator Prof. Dr. Özkan Elmaz said, “Within the scope of the Welfaruminant project, 6 project outputs will be prepared and the scientific preparation of the "Innovative Education Curriculum" booklet, which examines the animal welfare issue in detail, is the first of these outputs. He said it was reported to the project team by George Stilwell. Other outputs that are under preparation in the project;
